Commissioned by The Adelaide Film Festival for their 9:16 (vertical) film program, this short documentary highlights a site of remembrance for Kaurna women, in particular for Margaret Brodie, daughter of activist Veronica Brodie. Excavated through memory, eternal elements held up for the observance of a new generation. A document of the past through images of the present.

‘This isn’t Disneyland’ is the debut single from The Sisters of Invention, the world’s first girl band with intellectual disabilities. It’s a catchy alt-pop tune with a powerful message. With over 50,000 views on Youtube, the video is part parody part rock n’ roll edge, and successfully subverts the idea of the ‘perfect princess’. It’s unexpected and surreal and it challenges stereotypes whilst putting disability voices and faces firmly in the pop culture landscape.

Unlike Jakarta where cycle rickshaws (becaks) are banned for being a traffic hazard, the becak thrives in the city of Yogyakarta and
is considered a Javanese icon. Filmed one late afternoon, this short documentary follows an 81-year-old man who has been working
as a becak driver for over 55 years.
